The elderly population reached 33.92 million people in 2015, and is estimated to increase to 38.78 million people by 2042 (2016 Edition of White Paper Concerning Elderly People issued by the Cabinet Office). In line with this trend, the number of elderly people who are suffering from dementia and are classified as single-household is also anticipated to increase, and on May 13, 2016, the Law for Usage Promotion of Adult Guardianship came into force. However, the number of people who utilize the system is currently very few compared to the number of elderly people with dementia, etc.
Proper utilization of the adult guardianship system is an effective means for elderly people and their families to lead a more comfortable life. We provide legal services, including filing a petition for the utilization of the adult guardianship system, preparation of an agreement used in voluntary guardianship, and also provide appropriate personal support to elderly people not only to simply safeguard their assets but also to assist in their free decision-making, serving as an adult guardian, curator, limited guardian and supervisor of guardian.
